THE DIPLÔME D’ETAT DE PROFESSEUR DE MUSIQUE - DE (state-accredited music education certification)

This certification is for students wishing to teach music in music schools and conservatories. This nationally accredited diploma requires three years of study.

The ESM academic program for the DE certification includes the following subjects:

Instrumental or vocal teaching domains:
classical to contemporary; pop and jazz

Sight-reading and ear training

Accompaniment
Option: music

Ensemble conducting
Option: vocal ensembles

THE DE ACADEMIC PROGRAM INCLUDES THREE CORE BLOCKS:

•educational practice and pedagogical culture
•educational practice and music culture
•professionalization

THESE CORE BLOCKS INCLUDE

• DNSPM and DE core curriculum courses
• specialized classes: learning sciences, thesis preparation, gestures and posture
•internships and workshops: classroom observation internship in a music school, student teaching internships and teaching seminars
